Headed to Coachella? Have other plans for fun in the sun? Festival season is the perfect time to experiment with cool hair ideas! From easy half up, half down hairstyles to free-spirited Dutch braids and bun hairstyles with a sparkly twist, here are three DIY styles that are simple to create using our natural hair styling products with rainforest grown ingredients to keep hair healthy and happy, while having fun with styling.

Dutch Braid Pigtails

What you’ll need:

Hair ties (2)

Bobby pins

1 1/2- inch curling iron or wand

Rahua Freestyle Texturizer

Rahua Enchanted Island™ Salt Spray

  1. 1. Brush hair. Use your index finger to divide hair into two sections for a natural-looking part. Rub two to three pumps of Freestyle Texturizer between your palms and apply from roots to ends.
  2. 2. Starting on one side, divide a small section at the top of your head into three sections, leaving some strands out along your hairline. Cross the right section of hair under the middle one. Cross the left section under the middle one. Continue this braiding pattern until you reach the nape of your neck, then secure the low pigtail with a hair tie.
  3. 3. Wrap the hair tie with a small section of hair and secure it with bobby pins.
  4. 4. Loosen the braid using your thumb and index finger.
  5. 5. Repeat steps 2–4 on the opposite side (two braids are better than one!).
  6. 6. Apply our salt spray to the loose ends of both braids, then use a curling iron or wand to create tousled beach waves.

Half-Up Topknot

What you’ll need:

Bobby pins

1 1/2-inch curling iron or wand

Rahua Leave-In Treatment (for wet hair)

Rahua Voluminous Dry Shampoo (for dry hair)

Rahua Enchanted Island™ Salt Spray

  1. 1. If starting with wet hair: Apply 2–5 dabs of Leave-In Treatment from mid-shaft to ends for an anti-frizz heat protectant. Air dry or blow-dry thoroughly. If starting with dry hair (or second or third day hair): Shake, squeeze and spray a generous amount of our refreshing Voluminous Dry Shampoo (aka, plant-derived volume booster), then comb or work through hair with fingers.
  2. 2. Flip head upside down and apply our salt spray all over, concentrating on your ends.
  3. 3. Wrap 2–3-inch sections of hair around a 1 1/2-inch curling iron or wand set on medium to high heat and hold for about 10 seconds to create loose beach waves. Make sure to leave your ends straight for a beachier look! Do this throughout your hair.
  4. 4. Make a center part. Using a comb (or your index fingers), gather the top half of your hair at the crown into a ponytail. Hold the section with one hand and twist hair a couple of times with the other hand. Pull twisted section outward and backcomb it. Twist it some more and wrap it around into a topknot. Secure with bobby pins.
  5. 5. Finish with a few more spritzes of our Galapagos-inspired salt spray for gorgeous, effortless style!

Space Buns

What you’ll need:

Thin tail comb

Hair ties (4)

Bobby pins

Rahua Cream Wax

Rahua Defining Hair Spray

  1. 1. Brush your hair. Rub 3–6 dabs of our cream hair wax (or more depending on length) between palms and evenly distribute throughout hair. This will create the perfect amount of grip, plus control your flyaways for super-sleek space buns!
  2. 2. Use a tail comb to part hair directly down the middle. Section hair into high pigtails by brushing each section into side ponytails. Secure pigtails with hair ties. If you prefer fuller space buns, slightly twist pigtails and backcomb.
  3. 3. Twist pigtails and wrap into buns. Secure with hair ties. Use bobby pins for extra hold and carefree festival fun!
  4. 4. Mist our non-aerosol hair spray all over hair for medium hold. It’ll keep flyaways in check and festival-ready glitter in place! Generously spray along your part, then immediately sprinkle on the glitter. Choose a color to match your festival clothing!
